My presentation on the International Search Summit 2010: Tips and trends on mobile in Europe

Posted May 14th, 2010 in speaking by Bas van den Beld

Yesterday I made a very quick trip to London, I flew in on Wednesday afternoon, had a quick drink with my good friend and State of Search Nichola Stott and then went on to a Jazz club where I was invited by the organizers Andy Atkins Kruger and Gemma Birch from Webcertain. I had a great time there. A big compliment for the both of them.

The next day it was time for the conference, the International Search Summit. It was (again) a really, really good conference. Very well organized and a line up of impressing speakers who, something many organizers forget, were all complementary to one another, making the day very informative.

In the afternoon it was my turn to talk about Mobile Search in Europe. It’s not my main topic I usually discuss, but a topic I do work on quite a bit behind the scenes. Mobile, and mobile search in special, are a very much growing. If you don’t do it, you are crazy. I will put up a longer post on the subject on State of Search soon, but for now, here is my presentation:

A one minute interview at SES

Posted February 27th, 2010 in Interview by Bas van den Beld

At Search Engine Strategies I shortly met up again with Murray Newlands, a not only very smart guy and good affiliate marketing and social media blogger, but also a very nice guy. He did a ‘one minute interview’ with me, sort of like a pitch. He asked me what I was doing blogging-wise. Here’s my answer:

Thanks Murray!

Speaking at and looking forward to SES London 2010

Posted February 14th, 2010 in speaking by Bas van den Beld

In a year there are a couple of months in which the search marketing industry tends to organize their events. The first couple of months are February and March. This week therefore my first period of traveling and speaking starts again. In London Search Engine Strategies 2010 starts. I will be speaking on the second day, but I am also very much looking forward to both the program and the fact I’m meeting up with a lot of my friends again.

Speaking

As said, I am speaking at SES London this year. Which makes me very proud. Only a few years back I visited SES London as one of the anonymous visitors, blogging for Dutch Cowboys. Now I am on stage. And I am talking about that route. How I got from sitting in the audience to being pretty well known in the industry by using social media. I will post the presentation here soon! Continue Reading »

Looking forward to SMX London

Posted May 6th, 2009 in Events, Headline by Bas van den Beld

After just returning from speaking at A4U a new challenge awaits. In two weeks time SMX London starts. This event is organized by Third Door Media, the company behind the Search Engine Land. Host is Chris Sherman who I met for the first time in New York a couple of months ago. I’m very much looking forward to this SMX for a couple of reasons.

Speakers
First of all the conference has got a lot, and I really mean a lot, of good speakers present on the speakerslist. Names like Rand Fishkin, Christine Churchill and Mike Grehan are always good to listen to. The quality is very high, which guarantees a good time.

Networking
Second at this conference I’m seeing a lot of people I like again. There’s Lisa Ditlefsen and Jon Mayers, both bloggers at Searchcowboys, which I really look forward to seeing again. And there are more people, both on and off the speakerslist who are great to meet up with. People like Dave Naylor, again Mike Grehan, Mikkel deMib Svendsen, Dixon Jones and Judith Lewis are great to talk to and hang out with.

Speaking!
Third, a very important one! I’m speaking myself! Originally I was supposed to speak at two sessions. The linkbuilding session, which I also performed in at A4U, got cancelled because SMX wants to keep more focus on the advanced track. They therefore canceled the entire track in which also my linkbuilding session was placed. But I’m scheduled to speak in another session.

On the first day I will talk in the Search Issues Track in the session "Searchscape: Latest Stats About The Search Engines". I want to give the audience a view on what’s going on in the European market: which search engines are the most used, what are the differences in Europe, how do people (differently) use these search engines and where are we heading. It’s a subject with a lot of numbers, but I will make something special out of it!

Finally why I look forward to SMX London is the final part: London. A great city where I always like to come.

If you want to see me speak or just want to be there because the conference is so good, come! At Searchcowboys you can get a 15% discount, I’m hoping to see you there!

How much do you know about Marketing?

Posted September 11th, 2008 in Fun by Bas van den Beld

Last year I visited AdTech London. It were a couple of nice days where I learned a lot about Internet Marketing stuff and got to know some nice people. This year the organizers want me to come back and visit AdTech again. So they keep on sending me e-mails. And to be honest, if I weren’t going to PICNIC I think I would go to London.

Today I received another e-mail from the organisation. It immediately got my attention because of the title: "Are you a marketing cow?". Of course, being a blogger on Dutch Cowboys, this got my attention.

It turned out it was a little quiz to find out what my ‘IQ on Internet Marketing’ is. 15 questions about hot items concerning Internet Marketing, combined with questions about knowledge of specific subjects. Off course it’s nonsense, but still, its funny! Try it out (here) and let me know what your IQ is (and then I’ll tell you mine ;) ).
