The Nordic Digital Performance Rotation Curation

Category:Social Marketing Tags :

Nordic_Performance____Home

This week I will be part of an initiative set up by +Ola Hanø  a Norwegian Internet Entrepreneur. He got together a group of impressive people, some of the best experts on Digital Marketing in the World, Europe and in the Nordic countries. These experts are all one week long ‘in charge’ of a Twitter account,@NordicPerform. Each expert has his or her own topic.

There are many great names on the expert list, like for example my good friends Bryan Eisenberg and Kristjan Hauksson, but also the likes of Jim Sterne, Avinash Kaushik and Nathalie Nahai for example.

And this week its my turn! I will be talking about understanding your digital audience. I will place links to interesting articles, share some thoughts and point the followers in the right direction.

So I hope you will start following this account, not just for me, but also for the great bunch of other people on the list. And communicate with them/ me! Share your own links, help me find new information, and tell us what you think. And off course retweet.

See you there? You can follow the Twitter account here: https://twitter.com/NordicPerform and more information is available here:

An Example of My SlideDecks

Category:speaking Tags :

I do a lot of talks around the world about Online Marketing related topics. The focus lies very much on consumer behaviour these days. A few years ago I uploaded all my presentations to Slideshare. I don’t do that anymore, because my talks are very much story telling and I am using a lot of images it doesn’t make sense to upload each presentation.

However people who haven’t seen me speak are still interested in what they can expect, so I created a slide deck with some examples of what I talk about and added some explanation to it.

This deck however gives you some insights into how I build up my decks and stories and what you can expect.

Off course the best way of getting an idea is still to actually see one of my presentations. 🙂 But this is a start ;-).

How Mind Mapping helps to build my success

Category:Tips Tags :

So, it’s about time to let you in again on one of the ways I work. A tip :). This time the tip is about mind mapping.

I use mindmapping a lot. Mindmapping helps me get things structured and especially helps to quickly get the things on my mind on paper in a way I can later on use it.

Mindmapping is something which actually has been around for centuries. As you can read here: http://www.mindmappingsite.com/history/history/history-of-mind-mapping it goes as far back as the 3rd century BC. And I am in good company, even people like Leonardo da Vinci used it.

I was on Lunchbreak with Mike King (@iPullRank)

Category:Interview Tags :

A few months ago I was in New York for SES New York 2013. While there I visited the iAcquire offices to visit Mike King. He asked me to be on his weekly ‘lunchbreak’. You can watch the video here, where Mike interviews me and I shine a little bit of light into the things I’m working on at the moment.

I’m a UK Influential in Online Marketing, but I’m Dutch…

Category:Personal Tags :

Next week I will be speaking at SES London again. I have done that for the past few years and it’s always an event I enjoy a lot. That is for several reasons: the audience is very diverse, from SEO’s to ‘General’ Online Marketers and it is always a great opportunity to meet up with friends from within the industry. Also because a lot of US based people are coming over for this one.

One of the people coming over is Lee Odden, who I have had the pleasure of meeting up with several times over the past few years. Lee is a successful author, speaker and he runs Toprankblog, one of the first online marketingblogs I started following years ago.

On his blog Lee every year looks at the UK Blogs, which are a must-follow. Last year State of Search featured there. This year they took a different angle and looked at the top influencers and bloggers in the UK. For that they asked suggestions from people within the UK industry and then looked at their influential status.

Very surprisingly I showed up in that list, and quite high as well:

top-uk-bloggers-2

Surprising not because I’m not an influential (I know I am), but more that I’m not English and this clearly is a list of Top UK Influentials and Bloggers. And I’m Dutch.

Lee Odden explained it to me in an e-mail:

“Quite a few of the people we reached out to for nominations mentioned you specifically for this list, more than any other person that made it.”

Which means UK people nominated me to be on that list. Which off course is great! I am very honoured to be a Dutchman this high up in the list of UK influentials and bloggers in online marketing. It is the result of hard work running State of Search, speaking, doing workshops and consulting agencies, helping them determine their strategy directions.

Thank you all those who put me on this list!

Be sure to check out our State of Search event week running up to SES London next week!
