A Week in San Francisco

Category:Events Tags :

So my plan was to give some more updates on what I am doing , where I am speaking and what I’m writing about on different places. I should really do that right? đŸ™‚

Well you might want to hear about the week I spent at SES San Francisco this month. I was there as part of an expert roundtable, I did some blogging and I was there together with three people from Lindex. They ‘took me in’ as part of their family and I thoroughly enjoyed that. It was nice because it was a different experience than I usually have on conferences.

One nice thing about being in San Francisco was the fact that I got picked up from the airport by Dennis Goedegebuure, a well known Dutch SEO who made a good career for himself in San Francisco. He even took a picture of my plane landing (see below). It was great seeing him again, and begin picked up made me feel like a VIP. Dennis even wrote about it on his blog.

I also wrote a post about being in San Francisco for the Linkdex blog. The intro is here, the rest of the post you can read on the Linkdexblog. Please do đŸ˜‰

We Won!

Category:State of Search Tags :

It’s been a while since my last update, it’s been busy! And I’ve been on a very nice holiday as well. There will be a few updates coming soon about some stuff which is going on, including where I will be speaking in the next few months and about training sessions, but I wanted to highlighted something which I am very proud of and should have talked about much sooner: winning on the European Searchawards! And yes, that wasn’t yesterday!

I Got Interviewed With a Lot of Questions

Category:Interview

I get interviewed more often these days, especially around conferences I speak at. Usually the questions then are about the talk I will be doing. In other occasions I get interviewed because there is a certain ‘hot topic’ on which they want my opinion.

I am usually always happy to do this. After all, it is somewhat of a recognition of what you do: they want your opinion. Which is a nice thing. And as a publisher myself who has also done a lot of interviews with others I understand how interesting it can be for website owners.

It is fun to see how I’ve gone from being the interviewer (mind you: I still do that a lot) to being the one interviewed.

Last week I was interviewed again. This time however it wasn’t related to a conference or a ‘hot topic’, but it was about me. The people over at kahenadigital.com are interviewing several different people in the industry. Including me. And they asked me many questions, some of them not even search related. But it was  a nice interview, different. And that’s why I wanted to highlight it here!

Let me know what you thought about the interview!

One week of Speaking: an Award at ISS and a Nomination for State of Search

Category:speaking

Well, that was quite the week last week. I wrote about the different events I was going to be speaking at in London and Manchester. It was indeed a very busy week, but also a very nice week. It went by really fast, which usually is an indication of things going well.

While in both London and Manchester I got two nice messages: I won the speakers medallion at the International Search Summit and State of Search got nominated for best European Search blog!

Come hear me speak in the UK Next Week!

Category:speaking Tags :

I love going to the UK, people know that, heck some people that don’t know me even have called me “one fellow in the U.K.“, even though I am not from the UK and even though I live in the Netherlands ;).

But to get to the point: I really like going there and next week I will be spending the entire week in the UK doing what I love most: speaking and meeting up with friends.

If you are in the UK this is THE chance to come and see me speak because there are multiple opportunities.
