Come hear me speak in the UK Next Week!

Category:speaking Tags :

I love going to the UK, people know that, heck some people that don’t know me even have called me “one fellow in the U.K.“, even though I am not from the UK and even though I live in the Netherlands ;).

But to get to the point: I really like going there and next week I will be spending the entire week in the UK doing what I love most: speaking and meeting up with friends.

If you are in the UK this is THE chance to come and see me speak because there are multiple opportunities.

On Monday I will be speaking at the International Search Summit in the Chelsea Stadium. I have been speaking at that event before and I love going there. Not only because this is a conference where you can learn a lot about International Search, but also because it is organized by some very nice people who do great work organizing this conference and their company Webcertain. I am very much looking forward to catching up with Andy Atkins-Kruger and Gemma Birch there.

My talk is titled “The Global Collision of Social, Local and Mobile“. It will be about how social, local and mobile connect together and how you can make use of the three combined. It is going to be a talk filled with examples and nice stories, but also a message which people can take home.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I will remain in London as well as in the Chelsea Stadium for SMX London 2012. One of the major conferences in search in Europe. Here I am looking forward to some sessions (like the one with Amit Singhal from Google) and I will be speaking myself on the Wednesday.

That session I am particularly looking forward to because it is a session moderated by Danny Sullivan, one of the ‘big names’ in the industry and someone I have been following for years. He is an example for some of the things I do and as it happens, we’ve spoken before online but we have never met in person so I am looking forward to that.

In my talk I will be addressing Google+. I will be looking at how Google+ affects the search results. Not just rankings but all sorts of other elements coming from Google+ which will have an impact on what we see in the search results. There is some psychology behind that which I will try to pinpoint.

That afternoon I’m afraid I will have to miss the ‘London SEO’ party which always is very much fun, because I am taking a train up north to Manchester. There on Thursday and Friday its time for SASCON.

SASCON is a conference which is held for the third time and I have spoken at all of them. It is a conference organized not by one company but by a group of SEOs who wanted to have another event outside of London. It is a place where I will meet up with a lot of friends, so I am looking forward to that.

At the conference I will be in no less than three sessions. On the first day I get to moderate the “Is There a Place for Blackhat SEO in modern day SEO campaigns?” which has all friends in the panel: Ralph Tegtmeier, Dave Naylor, Paul Madden and Kelvin Newman. These are not only four of the nicest guys out there, they are also four of the smartest ones and I get to ask them questions :).

On Day 2 I first have a solo session early in the afternoon. I will have the stage for myself talking about “The Psychology in Search & Social”. Now here is a talk I am very much looking forward to because of the content. I will be focussing on how we as humans are ‘vulnerable’ for specific types of information and triggers and how these triggers are also to be seen in search and social, which off course marketers can then use. I would encourage you to come see this one, because this is going to be fascinating!

Finally at the end of the day I am part of a panel called “Understanding the Role of Social in Search” which goes into how search and social work together.

So I have a busy week ahead of me and hope to be seeing a lot of you at one of the conferences above, hopefully in the audience but also saying hi!
