My presentation on SES London 2011 (#sesuk)

Category:speaking Tags :

Yesterday I spoke on the “Marketing to the European Union” panel at SES London. I was joined by Mikkel deMib, Ciaran Norris and Kristjan Hauksson and we were moderated by Andy Atkins Kruger. It was a good session in which many different cultural aspects of Europe were brought to the attention. It wasn’t a very ‘technical’ session, but sort of an ‘introduction’ to Europe. Here’s my part of the session:

Did you attend the session? I’d love to hear your feedback for improvement!

This week: Speaking at SES London 2011

Category:speaking,State of Search Tags :

It’s that time of the year again: SES London is this week! It is the biggest search conference in Europe and I always love going there. I’ve only missed one show in the past years because my youngest daughter was born.

For the second time I will be speaking at SES London. On Wednesday morning (11am) I will be speaking on the panel “Marketing to the European Union“. I will be in the panel with some very big names in the industry: Mikkel deMib Svendsen, Ciaran Norris and Kristjan Mar Hauksson. The panel is lead by international search expert Andy Atkins-Krüger.

“The future of Search” at the Domainfest in Prague, my preso and more

Category:Events,speaking Tags :

As you might have noticed before when you have visited this (personal) blog before I was asked to speak at the Domainfest conference in Prague earlier this month. It was quite the experience! In a good way!

As you may have seen they put me in a hotel room which was astonishing. Huge and very comfortable. I almost didn’t want to leave the room! The evening also was interesting with a dinner party in the Czech National Museum. Not many people will have done that and as a former history student that was special! I missed the second day because I had to fly back but they actually went on a AK47 shooting contest…!

Next to that the conference was interesting itself. There were some interesting speakers, but the main thing which caught my attention was the actual domain-auction they did. I have never seen anything like it. Domains being sold as if they were paintings from Vincent van Gogh himself. Breathtaking to watch. And some domains really got some huge numbers. I understand that restaurants.com was sold for about $6 million… Watch here how pounds.com got sold for 35.000 dollars.

And what about my talk? That went very well I think. You always have to wait and see if your story really ‘catches on’. But I think it did, at least when I talked to people afterwards it seemed that way. Below you can find my presentation, those of you who have seen my presentations before will recognize things.

I’d like to again thank the organizers for a great event and say hi to everybody I met there. I’m sure we’ll be in touch!

A short plug for the International Search Summit

Category:Interview,speaking,Video Tags :

I was fortunate to be invited twice to speak at the International Search Summit in London. This conference, organized by Webcertain, the company of Andy Atkins Kruger, is a small conference, but one which is very nice, partly because its not that big. You really get good information from different international speakers and you can really learn something there. At the last one in London I (with some others) was shortly asked about the conference. An opinion I was happy to give, you can find it below in the video. This is one conference I will come back if they ask me. And then off course I hope to see you there ;).
